Roles and Responsibilities
I’m the Technical Support Manager and manage the team of 10 technicians across all the textiles and fashion disciplines in the School of Textiles and Design.
I’ve worked for the School of Textiles and Design for 25 Years. I’m a graduate from the Scottish College of Textiles, and before coming to work for the School, I worked in industry as a children’s wear designer and pattern cutter.
I also work some of the time as a Fashion Technician, supporting the students in the clothing workshops with Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction. I am also the School Health and Safety Officer, and oversee all aspects of Health and Safety in the School of Textiles and Design. I also help to organise deliver, and promote the Summer Schools.
I work closely with the business development manager to help support industry, and new businesses with prototype development.
I am also involved in many recruitment activities such as the Open Days, working with schools to provide work experience programmes for pupils interested in a career in Textiles or Fashion, and organising workshops for school groups to promote careers in Textiles and Fashion.
