Some of our students were lucky enough to go to the preview of the Orla Kiely Exhibition in the Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh. The event included a talk by Orla, herself, and a first look at the exhibition. They had the chance to chat to Orla and asked for advice for final year students – have a look at this special message from Orla to our students…
Scarlett Carruthers, fourth year BA (Hons) Fashion said,
“It was such an honour to learn more about Orla Kiely from the extremely talented and humble designer herself. Her exhibition truly portrays her precision and creativity in design. She mentioned she likes having fun when designing which is clear with the quirky nature of the exhibits. I’d highly recommend this exhibition to anyone with an interest in art and design.”
Rebecca Milligan, fourth year BA (Hons) Fashion added,
“An incredible exhibition for fashion, textile and design students alike. It was so interesting to see the huge amount of projects that Orla has worked on throughout her career. The standout part for me was the giant dresses that Orla and her team made, especially for the exhibition – a stunning way to showcase her impact on fashion and print. Definitely worth the short trip to Edinburgh and the Dovecot gallery were very welcoming; a great venue to host this in.”
The exhibition runs until the 29th June 2019.
