Ruth Paterson

I am responsible for everything involved in managing the admission process for undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research applicants to the School of Textiles and Design. I receive all applications, distribute them to the course directors, arrange interviews where required, and keep a record of all decisions made on applications. Responding to all email, postal and telephone enquiries in connection with admissions is also part of my role. In addition, I assist the Research Director in keeping records of all research applications made by members of staff and students.

Before coming to the School of Textiles and Design, I had a variety of careers including library assistant; primary school teacher; audio secretary; and brewery tenancy sales director’s secretary, in addition to being the mother of 4 children. In all of these roles, I have had to be organised and possess a sense of humour, which I feel has assisted me in my current position.
